Overworked, underpaid, favouritism and unprofessional
English Teacher (Former Employee) –  Islands District, New TerritoriesAugust 28, 2019
Please read if you are considering working at ABC Pathways.

If you are a new teacher with no prior experience than this job would be great for you because they have no standards and would hire anyone, literally.

Training is promised to new teachers, but the training they provide is completely useless, a waste of time, and there's no format. After this, they throw you into a class and expect you to run the class and if you make a mistake, that's on you. They do not offer any constructive criticism and will pit all blame on you for anything that happens.

This job will not give you a healthy work-life balance. This job requires a lot of hours but there are no bonuses or rewards. They will tell you that you can work their 'seminars' and earn a little extra cash; not worth it. Workload is not distributed evenly amongst colleagues. The harder you work and show how capable you are, the more they'll give you. Less work is given to those who aren't as good. They make you believe the salary they give you is great when it's not and they will lowball you with some pathetic excuse when you negotiate.
Keep in mind, it's a business, not a school.

Workplace culture is a hit or miss. The reason being is because the turn-over rate at these centers are extremely high, so the staff there always changes. Nepotism, favouritism, and gossip is apparent in their work culture. They're very unprofessional and do not have any boundaries. Verbal harassment and intimidation is normal there and there's no such thing as HR even if you want to report it. There's no point in reporting
more... it because they literally do not care and will not waste their time with this matter; you are easily replaceable to them.  less

Poor management and favoritism
NET (Former Employee) –  Hong Kong IslandApril 4, 2019
The management team is run by a bunch of amateurs who clearly use favoritism - this seems to be the company's ethos. If you're not "in" with management then you'll be treated with inferiority. You won't get the same perks and benefits as someone who is "in". Sounds amateurish and childish but that's how they like to run things. In the end, you'll just feel frustrated and let down. All the long hours and years of commitment you put in won't be accounted for with no salary raise, irrespective of how long you have worked there for. If you are really lucky, they'll even try to REDUCE your salary - a joke! That's the "reward" you'll receive for working there.
A sham and a soul destroying place to work. They like to exploit their employees. Don't even waste your time filling in the job application. Absolutely. No. Perks. At. All. None.

Empty promises
NET teacher (Former Employee) –  KowloonNovember 17, 2018
Everything sounds great before you sign the contract, but then “changes had to be made” and you’re stuck with what you didn’t agreed to do. Can it be worse? Yes, offers made verbally, and then denied just because they have changed their minds.
Pros
Long enough lunch times for some people to nap, it’s a great place for people who has poor work ethic in general
Cons
Unrealiable upper management

Favoritism seems to be a part of their company culture. Very unethical. Poor employee benefits. Exploit their employees unless of course you have a close relationship with management. If I could put no stars I would.

Workload was not evenly dispersed among staff members and favouritism was an issue if you were different and didn't follow their rules. Not flexible with staff and treated majority of staff poorly unless you were apart of upper management.

Assisting the teachers and young students in classroom activities is an interesting and rewarding experience indeed.
